Why Is This Man Smiling?

In the article "Why Is This Man Smiling", the author Lawrence Weschler describes the progress of creating digital character which is very difficult and skillful. As we know, face has 44 muscles and can create more than 5,000 difference expression. So, it really need a long time to figure out how to create a natural face with digital. And some digital light-scattering characteristics and penetrate. What's more, the most important is the soul of the character. The digital animator do not want to make these "People" unreality so they try to pay attention to every details.
In this article, I feel little difficult to understand this new technology that I never noticed before.But it is still very interesting because it has a lot of vivid description in it so that push me reading whole of the article. And, as it mentions in the paper, "The final fantasy" is a totally new burst in the history of digital movie. Actually, I guess the reason why people insist on paying a lot on the digital research and making a fantastic movie because some characters that they want to show is not too perfect to find someone has same face or same story familiar with them in the real life. I do love this essay!

As an opening, the writer quote the basketball game between Lakers and 76ers and Erving save the game by an amazing shoot. Obviously, he is really love basketball and think it could be one kind of art. He points that all of the activities in the game are full of joys. Like"ten-second rule
". By this passion story, he begin to introduce the basketball game and the importance of the rules in the games. Then, he bridge to the real life.
Everyone need to follow the rules, the policies and principles.We need to stop before the stop sighs and the red light. We need to have a positive attitude for life to access to success...... That's all we have to and we do not like. But it can save our lives. The basketball game is competitive or you can also believe it is very high level reflection of life but it won't be interesting without rules for it. The games create the rules and the rules are also create the joy of the games.

In this article, the professor talks about the dimension of "big and small", " left and right", "top to bottom" and "in front of and the back of". Actually, I did not follows the writer's idea but I did learn something in the essay.
I am not sure I understand the purpose but I guess the things that people always feel normal sometimes is not real as we see in vision. I mean, when we face something that happens a lot we might never think about the story or the reason of these things exist. Like, we might say "this chunk is small" but we never think about how small it is because it still bigger than a lot of things. We are hardly think about the things under the table or we can say reason we do not see before. It is really tricky for most of people to think about this but it is interesting for the thinker and philosopher.
